Porcelain countertops are highly resistant to ultraviolet (UV) light, meaning they will not fade from prolonged sun exposure, making them an excellent choice for outdoor kitchen countertops in Houston and Austin. Unlike natural stone, porcelain does not have its patterns built internally — instead, designs are digitally printed onto the surface, allowing for consistent color movement and modern aesthetics.

While no countertop material is 100% stain-proof, porcelain comes extremely close. Its non-porous surface prevents liquids from absorbing, and most spills remain on the surface where they can be easily cleaned. Porcelain countertops are manufactured at extremely high temperatures, giving them exceptional heat resistance. Hot pots and pans will not scorch or damage the surface, although the use of recommended trivets is always advised for best long-term care.

Porcelain also offers outstanding scratch resistance, performing on par with granite and quartz. However, caution should be taken with ceramic knives, which may scratch the surface under certain conditions. Porcelain slabs are available in a wide range of styles and finishes, including polished, honed, and leathered, making them ideal for modern kitchens, bathrooms, outdoor kitchens, backsplashes, and full-height walls.

Porcelain countertops are a surface-print material only, meaning the veining and pattern are printed on the top layer and do not run through the full body of the slab. Because of this, standard straight edges will not display the slab design. In order to achieve a continuous veined appearance along the edge, porcelain countertops must be fabricated with mitered edging. Without mitering, the exposed edge will appear solid in color and will not match the surface pattern. Mitered edges are strongly recommended for waterfall islands, thick profiles, and modern porcelain installations. Recommended to be fabricated by a certified fabricator!
